The dishwashing machine was moved this week and we are in line to start up the new kitchen the week of July 28th.  The wall finishing continues in all areas including the new entrance.  Carpet is going in on the D2 and D1 levels and it is really pulling together nicely.  Be sure to check out the picture section as we update that weekly.

Now that the Academic Year is done and Graduation is completed the construction demo has moved to the Dining Room.  The old Servery is now a large electric closet.  We have one month to get in there do what needs to be done then clean it up so we can use it for camps and conferences.  Camps and conferences will use the old Dining Room until we move in late July.  It is now possible to see what the basic lay out will be for the new conference rooms and Alumni Room.  We are starting to look at signs, garbage cans and outdoor furniture.  These tasks have been tougher than expected…Who thought picking a nice looking garbage can would be this difficult….

This past year Tremper High School shop classes have been working on taking the old bowling lanes and making them into table tops for the new recreation area.  They did a GREAT JOB under the leadership of Mr Cole Marshall.  This is a perfect demonstration of how something old can become new!  THANKS TREMPER HIGH!!

Inspection, Inspection, Inspection…necessary and part of the job.  Roof penetrations, pipe pressure tests, electrical, fire proofing, concrete strength, air velocity, etc, etc, etc.  All for a safe secure building for many years to come.  I never realized the number of people looking out for us at UW Parkside and I thank them all.  All the energy on the construction site has been working towards getting things ready so that UW Parkside can take over the new kitchen in July.  We have also started planning for the outside work which needs to be completed over the summer which isn’t much time for the amount of work that needs to be done.

The AV systems are starting to be installed, the bathrooms on the D2 level are just about completed and we are preparing for the finishes to be installed right after school lets out.  It is amazing how much carpet, paint, ceiling grid, ceiling tile, etc is used int eh project.  The light fixtures are starting to go into the new dining room area and it is actually beginning to look like a space that you can eat in versus a construction site.

Things are moving right along…Ceiling grid is being installed, paint is going on the walls, the grand staircase is being erected, the coolers and freezers are installed in the kitchen and tile is beginning to go on the floors.  DeAnn and I have been working on a furniture order so soon we will be able to have some display boards in the dining room with the furniture selections, Tremper High School is working on the bowling lane table tops and they really look GREAT!!  NO MORE SNOW!!!  Once the weather warms up and it quits snowing we should get the glass up on the south side of the building…stay tuned!

Painting has started on the Recreation Center level and the Kitchen/Dining Area…No more boring white walls at UW Parkside….color, color, everywhere!!  It looks great and I can’t wait for people to see!!  Check out the color in the pictures…WOW!!

Welcome Back!!  We are already planning for moving day!!  Looks like the present kitchen will be moving to its new location in early July 2008!!  That means we will be opening the Recreation Center, the Dining Area, and Food Service for the Fall Semester 2008!!  Drywall is starting and the Recreation Center is really taking shape.  We will be painting before you know it.  Check out the latest pictures of the areas!!

35% complete can you believe it!!  It’s getting cold out so you can see temporary enclosures went up on the outside of the building this last week so work can continue on the inside.  Things will slow down slightly over the holiday but believe me work will not stop.  You will see some major changes when you get back from winter break!

Thank goodness the weather is hanging in there for us.  The mechanical room is well underway, the pre cast fascia is up, and there is rough framing, plumbing and electrical going on in all areas of the building.  Keep checking out the pictures we are taking pictures weekly and posting them on the web site.
