Wow! Ground breaking was great! It was really nice to have the Board of Regents and many Chancellors from around the UW System participate. Seeing many Alumni from the past brought back many good memories.

JP Cullen has really been working hard to get our project under way. When you return from Spring Break you will experience the new entrance to the Parkside Cafe’ Dining Room. You will be entering the Parkside Cafe’ Dining Room through the old kitchen entrance. Take a left turn immediately after the Tyme machine on the L1 Concourse.

Since the new entrance removed space from the servery, we have moved the location of some equipment and services. The “Made to Order” station has been relocated to the dining room. If you are interested in the made to order item, you will need to pay for the item at the cash register. You will then be given a ticket to take to the made to order station for your item.

As a result of the above changes, the contractor will be able to proceed with the demolition of the north entrance and maintain the construction schedule. We appreciate your patience during construction.

The hammering begins on Monday!

March 2nd, 2007

This is the last weekend for our dearly beloved Union Square. At one point in our history, the square served as a hang out for students and staff to socialize, listen to music, etc…. These past few years, it has been used for everything from meetings and conferences to comedians and dances. We will miss having this space but the new spaces will be great. We will be feverishly moving things out of the room over the weekend to prepare for the start of the demolition of space on monday. Eventually, they will be punching a hole in the floor down to the Den for a new entrance into the Den. The construction crew will also begin to start work on building the temporary wall in the Union Bazaar. This will be one of the first times that you will start to see people begin working in the building. We will start to see alot more of this after we finish the official groundbreaking on Thursday. Don’t forget to join us!
